Even with the right adapter you will get washed out colors if you do not match the motherboard and LCD correctly. Edit: you can try to get around this by soldering additional wires or adjusting the potentiometer but the results will not be as good as a properly The GBA SP to the right is an stock AGS-101 using a genuine 850mAh NDS battery (I can’t remember the age of the battery) Both are on their default brightness and about 50% volume using the SP’s speaker.
